Quick sign-in to production
The Sign in button on a credential opens your stand in a new tab already signed in. For production environments it opens only the site by default: a link with a login and password should not reach a live product. If your team tests on an environment it calls production, the project lead can turn quick sign-in on for it too.
How to turn it on
- Open the project, then Settings → Danger zone → Quick sign-in to production.
- Choose when the mode turns off by itself: only by hand, or when a release is out.
- Press Turn on with a code and enter the code from email. The code goes to your own address and works for 5 minutes.
- In Credentials, open the production environment, set the site address and tick Quick sign-in with the Sign in button. The link template fills in by itself.
Turning off with a release
Many teams test on production until the first public release. Pick that release when you turn the mode on: once it is out, the mode stops working by itself and the settings show Off: release v2.5 is out. The link templates of the environments stay, but the button opens only the site again. Turning it back on takes a new code.
To turn the mode off earlier, press Turn off with a code. It takes a fresh code too.
What the team sees
- While the mode is on, the button on production credentials is called Sign in and opens the site signed in.
- While it is off, the button says Site: only the address opens, and the hint on the button explains why.
- Every change is recorded in the workspace audit log: who, when and until which release.
Your app has to accept such a link too. How to do it is described for developers on the Quick sign-in to stands page.
